(1955, Caracas, Venezuela) Agelvis is an established painter based in Venezuela’s capital city. His work is an experimental combination of figurative shapes and diverse textures and colors.

In his large-scale paintings, Agelvis fuses refined and stylized drawings with a variety of materials, such as oil paints, chalk, varnishes, earth, rust, and glue, among others, to create shiny and often luxuriant surfaces defined by their vibrant palette.

Agelvis took art courses for nearly twenty years, first studying drawing with renowned Venezuelan artist and caricaturist Pedro León Zapata, before advancing to other drawing techniques at the Architecture Faculty of the Central University of Venezuela and then progressing to studying color and light in painting in Cleveland, Ohio.

His work has been exhibited in galleries across the world since the 1980s, and his resumé features shows in Italy, Romania, United States, France, Spain, and Sweden.

The Art Alive is a new tradition of giving in Greenwich and features an array of prominent professional artists in many different fields including the visual arts, dance, drama, opera, classical and jazz music – all areas of the Council’s public programming. Cocktails and fine hors-d’oeuvres will be interspersed with performances throughout the evening, all happening at the Greenwich Arts Council.

Magical theatrics: Light Art Installation; Jazz Piano and Saxophone; Sculpture Demo; Avalon Jazz Dance Band.

Don’t miss the opportunity to acquire works by renowned artists.

The exhibition will be on display from October 14th to November 15th at the Bendheim Gallery in Greenwich, CT.
