Mildred Veitia – Visual Art Sur

Mildred Veitia

(1956, Caracas, Venezuela) is a sculptor specializing in beautifully crafted human figures, whose sinuous bodies evoke freedom, strength and passion.

Although she trained as a lawyer at the Central University of Venezuela, Veitia was captivated by art since she was a child.

One day in 1995 she decided to follow her dream to be an artist, leaving her career in law behind her and embarking on her formal studies as an artist with sculptor Cándido Millán and later at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas.

Committed to her artistic training, Veitia has studied photography, drawing, and metalwork under numerous artists in Venezuela and also, more recently, in Florence, Italy. Veitia has also dedicated oven ten years to teaching sculpture at her workshop in El Hatillo, a quaint suburb of Caracas.

Her work has been exhibited on many occasions, including solo shows The Human Form (1999) and Synergy (2007), in Caracas, and group exhibitions in the United States and Dubai. Her work forms part of private collections in Venezuela, United States, Colombia, Italy, France, Israel and England.
